Convert a result like 12 × 10⁸ into standard scientific notation (1.2 × 10⁹) by adjusting the coefficient to be between 1 and 10 and compensating with the exponent.

Standard scientific notation requires the coefficient to be between 1 and 10. If your coefficient is 10 or bigger after adding, divide it by 10 and increase the exponent by 1.
