Station 1 of 11
Genesis 1:1NKJV
Created good
โIn the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.โ
Explanation
Before there was sin, before there was suffering, before there was anything to fix โ God made the world. The universe is His good work, not an accident, not a mistake, not a meaningless dust cloud. Everything that exists belongs to Him because He made it. The story of the gospel starts here: a world that was made GOOD, by a God who knew what He was doing.
Read in the original
Hebrew begins Bereshit bara Elohim: "In the beginning God created." The verb bara is used with God as the subject, emphasizing creation as His sovereign act, not human craftsmanship. Elohim is grammatically plural but takes the singular verb here. Christians should not overstate that as a proof-text, but it does fit the Bible's larger picture of the one God whose creating Word is fully revealed in John 1.
Key idea
The world is God's good work, not an accident.
